Although they are not related to cancer, they can cause significant symptoms and affect quality of life.<\/p>\n<h2>SYMPTOMS<\/h2>\n<p>Fibroids may be asymptomatic, however in many women they cause:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heavy or prolonged menstruation.<\/li>\n<li>Pain or feeling of heaviness in the abdomen.<\/li>\n<li>Frequent urination or difficulty emptying the bladder.<\/li>\n<li>Constipation due to pressure on the intestine.<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty conceiving or repeated miscarriages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h2>DIAGNOSIS<\/h2>\n<p>Diagnosis is made by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Gynecological examination<\/strong> to detect an enlarged uterus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pelvic ultrasound<\/strong> which is the most common imaging method.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)<\/strong> for a more detailed assessment of location and size.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hysteroscopy<\/strong> when there is a suspicion that the fibroid is affecting the inside of the uterus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>TREATMENT<\/h2>\n<p>The choice of treatment depends on the size, location, symptoms, and the woman&#039;s desire to preserve her fertility.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Monitoring<\/strong>: If the fibroids are small and not causing symptoms, regular monitoring may be sufficient.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drug treatment<\/strong>: Hormonal therapies are used to reduce the symptoms and size of fibroids.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimally invasive methods<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><em>Hysteroscopic removal<\/em> for fibroids that grow within the endometrial cavity.<\/li>\n<li><em>Laparoscopic removal<\/em> for larger or multiple fibroids.<\/li>\n<li><em>Uterine artery embolization<\/em>, which reduces blood flow to the fibroids so that they shrink.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Surgical hysterectomy<\/strong>: In severe cases, when symptoms are severe and other treatments are ineffective.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4>MANAGEMENT TIPS<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not ignore prolonged or heavy bleeding.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss all treatment options with your doctor, especially if you wish to become pregnant.<\/li>\n<li>Regular ultrasound monitoring is necessary to assess progress.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4>CONCLUSION<\/h4>\n<p>Uterine fibroids are a common, but completely manageable condition.
